Classes

A numbered ballet path

Children’s work at 3–4. Vaganova Ballet I–VI from age 5. Recreational and adult classes beside the academy track. Company and pre-professional by audition. Daily times live in Register and the Parent Portal.

Ages 3–4

Children’s

Pre-Ballet

First classroom, music, and coordination. Built for the youngest dancers in the building.

Pre-Tap

Rhythm and listening beside the first ballet class.

Children’s Ballet

Taught with Sonia Garcia. Progressing Ballet Technique enters later on the academy path.

Ages 5–17 · Vaganova

Ballet Academy

A class needs at least four students enrolled to run. Placement follows the work in the room — not a form letter.

I

Ballet I · ages 5–7

60 minutes, once a week. Conditioning, barre, vocabulary, placement, small jumps, across-the-floor, class etiquette.

II

Ballet II · ages 5–7

60 minutes. Same classical structure, more demand at the barre and in the center.

III

Ballet III · ages 8–10

60–90 minutes, three or more days. Upper body, musicality, artistry. Pre-pointe may enter late in the year.

IV

Ballet IV · ages 9–12

60–90 minutes, four or more days. Pre-pointe work to strengthen feet and ankles. Complex barre.

V

Ballet V · ages 13+

Four or more days. Two years on pointe required. Pointe and variations.

VI

Ballet VI · ages 14+

Four or more days. Four years on pointe required.

Beside the academy track

Recreational & adult

Modern · Jazz · Tap

All ages. Jazz / Lyrical and Contemporary sit next to the ballet week, taught with Devon Lloyd.

Adult Ballet, Jazz, Tap

Adult rooms, including Teen–Adult Ballet. Call if you are returning after years away.

Supporting work

Pre-Pointe, Pointe, Variations, Character, Floor Barre, Stretch & Strength, Progressing Ballet Technique.

By audition

Company & pre-professional

Mini, Petite, Junior, and Senior companies. Pre-professional Intermediate and Advanced meet four or more days a week for 2–2.5 hours. Required classes must be taken at Plainfield Dance Academy. Placement is by experience and audition. Decisions on solos, duos, trios, and ensemble rest with Mr. Altin and Miss Olena.
